Hello Reader,

This is another time to remind you:
Transformation doesn’t live in big ideas or moments but in our ‘ordinary’ day-to-day life.

The habits and practices we do in the granular, repeated, unglamorous practices. And in seasons when we feel down or need strength to continue our journey or just the courage to push through the season…

Here are some specific activities I engage in, which keep me not just mentally and emotionally in check but also build the clarity and resistance to forge through the transformation process:

Silence — A few minutes each morning or possibly before going to bed.

No phone. No music. No words.
Just you and the quiet.

Maybe you sit down.
Maybe you stare out a window.
Maybe you pray without speaking.

What it builds:
capacity for presence,
attention to God’s voice,
comfort with your own thoughts,
resistance to the tyranny of the urgent.

Fasting — A few days a week or one full day per month.

Choose a simple schedule small.

Not just from food,
But any appetite that indulges you.

What it builds:
the ability to say no to desire,
freedom from automatic gratification,
recognition that ‘hunger’ won’t kill you,
awareness that you can survive discomfort.

Sabbath — A full day of rest, possible once or twice a month.

No work emails.
No side projects.
No “productive” tasks.

What it builds:
capacity to live without producing,
recognition that your worth isn’t the output,
reminder that the world continues even when you stop,
restoration that builds and strengthens you for the other days of work.

Simplicity — Seek things to let go of, give out or share with someone.

Own less.
Want less.
Need less.

Clear or reduce your wardrobe.
Stop buying things to fill your emptiness.

What it builds:
freedom from comparison,
space and clarity for what actually matters,
contentment and satisfaction with what you have.

Gratitude — Write out or think of specific things you are sincerely grateful for.

Not generic (“I’m thankful for family”) but concrete (“I’m thankful Sarah listened without trying to fix me yesterday”). The specificity matters.

What it builds:
attention to moments,
recognition of abundance over scarcity,
resistance to emotional illness, preventing self-destruction.

These aren’t just when we are anxious or confused or even when we are falling away, but they can act as regular training to keep us in check.

The truth is whenever we are filled with anxiety or uncertainty or are feeling lost or left alone, we can usually creep into vices or throw ourselves into negative habits that fill up that void or numb us from our emotions.

But with practices like these, which disassociate you from activities or keep you in constant reflection, you have a higher chance to weather the storm and forge ahead.

You can start small; pick one practice.
Practise it this week; don’t make it complicated.
Then try again, even if you fail at it; consistency, not perfection.

Be Determined. Stay Focused.
Ekerete Lord-kris.

Imagine the impact today's letter could have on someone. Sharing is simple, and it’s a powerful way to spread ideas that matter:

  2. 👆🏾 Tap the share button (or hold to copy the link).
  3. 💌 Post it where it matters most.

Let’s create something big together—a community that champions growth, purpose, and shared inspiration.

Reflection Prompt:

  1. Which of these five practices feels the most “impossible” for you to start right now?
  2. Is that impossibility a sign of where a specific vice or habit has taken the strongest root in your life?
